We had the pleasure to have Sean “The Beast” Fister join Brian Stefan for a live interview. Sean talked about his involvement in long drive, his three World Championships, and the Long Drive Hall of Fame. With roughly 30 years in the sport as a professional, he’s definitely one of those folks who knows the ropes.  We’re delighted to have Sean endorsing Amateur Long Drive™. One of the best parts of the interview (in my opinion) was a lesson in equipment. In addition to going to lower lofted heads and stiffer shafts, there are basic driver setups to bring to each event.

Here’s a summary of what he said, You need to bring four driver setups to each event. You need to have a club set up for hard surface and a tail wind and a soft surface and a tail wind. You need one set up for a hard surface and a head wind….and on set up for a soft surface and a head wind. If the grounds wet, you’re not going to get any roll, so you need a little more loft and maybe a little less flex to get it up in the air. He used those four basic setups and would have 3 backups for each.

When you practice, you set your equipment up for how you’re hitting the ball. But, you need to allow for the adrenaline that comes with competing.  You’re going to increase your club head speed 6 to 10 miles and hour.

Here’s the entire interview. Hope you enjoy.
