Saturday April 27, 2019 had two ULD™ tournaments on the schedule. Fareen Samji’s Ontario (Canada) GTA Series held their second event of the season, and Matt Ellenburg’s Western Carolinas (USA) League held his second event of the 2018/19 season. The Ontario GTA event was held indoors at Swing Golf Lounge, Etobicoke, Ontario and the Western Carolinas event occurred at Spring Par Range in Travelers Rest, South Carolina.

Western Carolinas

Cortney Porro of Fort Mill, SC moved to the top of World Rankings and Western Carolinas division in the Women’s Open division with her win at Travelers Rest. This was the first of two events on the schedule for the Spring Park facility. Michael Byrley won the Men’s Open division edging our Scottie Pearman by six yards with his drive in the first set of 316 yards. The win moves Byrley to number three in World Rankings and number one in Western Carolinas Men’s Open Division. Men’s Senior division’s Neal Causey, competed one-handed after surgery on his right wrist, earning points to move him up to the number four position in World Rankings and number one in Western Carolinas Seniors Men’s division.

Ontario GTA

Will Cashin made his debut in the Ontario GTA Series and won in “Cashin Fashion” with a drive of 375 yards with his backup driver. Will recently competed int he Long Drive Latinoamerica Championship in Mexico City where he was an early pick to sin the event, but a broken driver and an unfamiliar backup sent him out in the early rounds of the finals. We’re pretty sure there’s some new equipment in Will’s future as he plans to compete in the USA Eastern Regional Rumble in Rocky Gap in Flintsone, Maryland on May 11th. See the complete results of this tournament below, but please note the performance of Junior competitor, Josh Fowler and his 346 yard drive. Josh went 350 in his first GTA event. We’re looking forward to seeing Josh compete in future events. Juniors compete from age 14 through 17 in ULD™. Doug Downey has been putting up some big numbers in the Super Senior division. Doug went 277 in this event and  288 in the previous GTA event. I’m looking forward to seeing a showdown between Doug and Utah’s David Johnson in that division. There are some big-hitting Supers competing this year. Virginia’s Dennis Duncan is the reigning Super Senior Male World Champion.
