ULD™ Canada Takes Over Three Top Spots

Will “Smashin” Cashin moved Mark Brown from the Open Men’s number one spot this week with his win in the GTA Ontario Series (see results below). Cashin recently won the Rumble at Rocky Gap USA Eastern Regional to punch his ticket to the ULD™ Worlds. Matt Kindou jumped all the way up to third (tied with Matt Thomas) with his performance in the Niagara, and GTA Ontario events. Deanna Walton took over top spot in the Senior Women’s division. Zhana Navato moved to number one in the Youth Female division.

We’re just over two months away from the 2019 ULD™ World Championships with a lot of tournament yet to play. Included in the balance of the season (ends July 31, 2019) are three more Regional Majors. The Capital City Clash in Jefferson City, Missouri had to be cancelled due to flooding form the Missouri River. The Western Regional (Shootout at Tukwet Canyon) is June 22nd at Morongo Golf Club in Beaumont, California. The Midwestern Regional (Justice at Jester Park) is July 13th at Jester Park Golf Center in Granger, Iowa, and the Last Chance Qualifier is August 15th at Barefoot Resort in Myrtle Beach the day before the Worlds begin. There’s still plenty of time and opportunity to make your way to the Worlds!

The First Event In the Ontario Niagara Series

The first event of the Niagara series got underway on Sun June 2 at Sawmill Golf Course. Due to the inordinate amount of rain the grid was wet and soggy. After the first set all hitters were within 10 yards of each other in the Men’s Open division. However, during the second set, Matt Kindou hit the longest ball of the day at 365 yards to win. This is Matt’s first series win.
The ladies had a tough battle and Kelly Rudney, the winner of the the first two GTA West series events pulled it out by 6 yards to win with a solid 276 yards. Doug Downey continued his streak with  a 298 yard shot to win the Mens Super Senior division. Many thanks to Bryan Vine and Golfwerx for sponsoring the balls and prizes. The Niagara Series has two more events on the calendar…June 22nd, and July 21st, both at Sawmill Golf Course. Madness in the Midlands

The Western Carolina League made their second trip to the renowned Par Tee Grid in Cayce, SC (West Columbia). Hitters were lucky enough to escape the predicted thunderstorms (90% chance) with a window of sunshine lasing just long enough for the competition. In the Men’s Open division,  Scottie Pearman battled yet another strong headwind (seems to be the norm now) and rain-soaked grid with a 310 yard drive in his first set and 309 in his second. Brandon Costlow went 307 for second longest and Big Ben Sutton was third at an even 300 yards. Newcomer Mason Colquit was a close fourth at 299. Jay Seaman, Tim Brown, (newcomer) Chris Hochreiter, (newcomer) Crys Peyton, and (newcomer) Jonathan Witchen rounded out a strong showing for the Open Men’s division.  Cortney Poro took the win in the Open Women’s division. Newcomer, Steve Pierce won his ULD™  debut in the Men’s Senior division. Former professional long driver, Gary Ramirez regained his amateur status to return to the grid and won his inaugural Super Senior Men’s division entry.
